Key Bridge

The Key Bridge at sunset. Georgetown University is behind it.

The Theodore Roosevelt Monument

Dad and I walked to the island in the Potomic River that had the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Monument. There was one other person there and it was the best weather. There were huge stone pillars that had a lot of quotes that he had said through out his Presidency. He was quite the man.

Potomic River

On Sunday my dad and I headed out the front door to venture into a nature preserve that is right accross the street from our house in Virginia. At the trail head there is a map and we both looked at it and decided what trail to take. We started heading up the trail when we came to a fork in the road. My dad wanted to follow the little trail that went to the right and I said that I was sure that we needed to keep following the on that went straight. We kept going straight. We went over a stream amd stepped in several muddy holes and wondered if Big Foot was around? The trail startd to incline and then we came to a flag pole. This was not where we wanted to go but we just kept following the trail because we figured that we would eventually end at the Patomic River. Then the trail started to slop down and we could see through the trees the river. Dad emiduatlly veared off the trail in order to get to the river sooner and to get as closs as possible. We eventually ended on a big rock that jetted out into the river. Dad took my picture and we looked around for a while and then started to head back. Dad wanted to take a different trail back but I said we were going to get lost. Well we did and Dad and to pull out his trusty Blackberry with its GPS. We located our spot and sure enough we where headed back to the river, not back to the house. I kept telling him to follow the sound of the freeway because it is right next to the house. We followed the sound and finally came out all in one peace. That was a fun little adventure but I learned that if you follow the sounds that you know (aka freeway) then you will end up where you are supposed to be. The sounds that I know are the Prophets word, the Spirit, and the scriptures. They are the best sounds to listen to when you are lost in this big world!

Virginia

Well my family is in the process of moving to McLean, Virginia. I finished school for the semester last Thursday and my dad and I flew out to Virginia on Saturday the 11th of April. We stayed in a hotel in Arlington for a few nights before we moved into the house that my parents are renting in McLean. We had some down time Sunday evening so we went to the Iwo Jima memorial which is right next to the Arlington cemetery. We then walked into the cemetery for a little while. When we decided to leave and go back to the hotel we just thought that we could clime over a small stone fence and be back by were all the buildings are. Well we started walking toward all the buildings when we realized that they were all surrounded by chain-link fences and barb wire. We then came to the conclusion that we were in a secure area. We started heading back in the direction that we came and there was a guard checking the badges of some runners that where coming in the gate toward us. We were on the inside and we didn't have badges. So dad and I just started to walk and whistle and the guard didn't stop us exiting. When we where out we sheepishly looked behind us and realized that we had gotten in to Fort Meyers. Obviously they need to work on their security because it is really easy to get in there. That was quite the adventure!
