Virginia

Well my family is in the process of moving to McLean, Virginia. I finished school for the semester last Thursday and my dad and I flew out to Virginia on Saturday the 11th of April. We stayed in a hotel in Arlington for a few nights before we moved into the house that my parents are renting in McLean. We had some down time Sunday evening so we went to the Iwo Jima memorial which is right next to the Arlington cemetery. We then walked into the cemetery for a little while. When we decided to leave and go back to the hotel we just thought that we could clime over a small stone fence and be back by were all the buildings are. Well we started walking toward all the buildings when we realized that they were all surrounded by chain-link fences and barb wire. We then came to the conclusion that we were in a secure area. We started heading back in the direction that we came and there was a guard checking the badges of some runners that where coming in the gate toward us. We were on the inside and we didn't have badges. So dad and I just started to walk and whistle and the guard didn't stop us exiting. When we where out we sheepishly looked behind us and realized that we had gotten in to Fort Meyers. Obviously they need to work on their security because it is really easy to get in there. That was quite the adventure!

Horticulture Field Trip

I went on Field trip to Salt Lake area for a Horticulture class. The point was to see and get an idea of all the different fields of Horticulture. I went to thanksgiving point, it a huge garden, Cabelas, the sporting goods store, a huge mansion to see the landscape work, Cactus & Tropicals, a interior plant store, temple square, Roots, a florist shop, and a big greenhouse and then a nursery.

Flower Ring

I work in the BYUI Flower Center and will receive 1 credit but it also gives me lots of practice. Today we were looking up FTD and Tela Floral sites to see what flower shops in our home towns have use wire services and we fumbled across a picture of a flower ring, so we made one. Mine is made with pink wire, a white and pink button mum and a hot pink corsage pin. It was fun to experiment and create it!!!

Haloween 2008

Audrey Hepburn is one of the most elegant and beautiful actresses ever to be in show biz. She is one of my heros so I decided to be her for Halloween. Mom helped me find the gloves and the jewelrey at the Antique store. I already had the black dress from homecoming dance my senior year. All night everyone just kept guessing that I was a beauty queen or princess but only two people knew I was Audrey. I think I did a pretty good job of looking like her, don't you think?

My first wrist corsage I have ever made!! I was a Halloween theme but my bow got a little to excited and overtook the flowers. I spray painted the babies breath black and now it gives off the smell of acetate.
